#58 Land Of The Dead 2005
Okay the last of the Romero movies. This wasn't bad, but I did like some of the others better. So now the zombies have started acting more like the living. Returning to jobs and old habits. Learning to use weapons and fight the living rather than just eat them. Showing emotions when one of their own is killed.
On a routine mission to get food and supplies a group of living piss off the dead. The dead are out for revenge and make a little trip to the nearby city where the rich live in the protected skyscraper while the poor have to eke out a living in the ruins of the walled in city. You can only fight off the undead hordes for so long.
An interesting thing for me was one of the extras. There is a scene in the movie where two zombies are chained up and people can have their pictures taken with them. Turns out the two zombies are co-writers of Shaun Of The Dead, which I have seen but have to re-watch for this project.

eke: eked, ek·ing, ekes
1. To supplement with great effort. Used with out: eked out an income by working two jobs.
2. To get with great effort or strain. Used with out: eke a bare existence from farming in an arid area.
3. To make (a supply) last by practicing strict economy. Used with out.
Yes I know. But because they were living in fear it was more of an exclamation of that fear. Like "EEK! A mouse!"
